4 Reasons Athletes Get Adjusted

Keeping themselves in tip-top shape is all but required for athletes who take the time to nurture their body with exercise, rest and healthy foods. But these aren’t the only ways athletes stay in peak performance mode. Each year, a growing number are turning to chiropractic care.
How Chiropractic Promotes Overall Health

Health is more than what you eat–it’s about handling life with ease.

Did you know that we live our life through our nervous system? When we have a better nervous system, we have a better life. It’s that simple. From our ability to digest our food, enjoy a sunset, or be delighted by a baby’s giggle, our nervous system allows us to experience life more abundantly. If, however, your nervous system is compromised, you’re not able to live life to the fullest.

What Does Health Mean to You?

If you were to ask someone on the street, “How do you know if you’re healthy?” you might be met with answers that mention high energy and alertness, or maybe simply, “I just feel good.” But many rarely equate health to function — when all of the body parts are working as designed. And yet, that’s exactly what true health is.
So instead of thinking of the word health, think about having a sense of ease. If you have ease, which is the opposite of dis-ease, then consider yourself to have health. If there’s a lack of ease, you’re experiencing dis-ease, and chances are, your nervous system is not functioning as it was meant to.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care

Ensuring that your nervous system is free of interference through chiropractic can help you feel great. Many patients of ours also report improvements like:

Reduced back and neck pain

Enhanced immune system

Improved range of motion

Increased function

Heightened energy and mood

If you’d like to experience life to the fullest with a properly functioning nervous system, we invite you to contact our practice to get your spine checked.<strike></strike>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11068585957358917575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-335407720267739647.post-14648926147347225912016-06-01T14:22:00.000-07:002016-06-01T14:28:13.758-07:00Let’s Put the Word Sick to Bed

Words guide us, choose them consciously.
Coughs and sneezes are heard in households all over the world. Late night fun times in the bathroom taking care of kids are had by all parents. It is amazing (and gross) the things that ooze and fly out of our kids. Symptoms happen.
It is common when our child has symptoms that we tell them they are sick. Most of us do this whenever our child has a cold or flu or barf bug. We often announce it when we ourselves aren’t feeling well.
Now I have a question for you, one you may have never considered:
Is your child sick because they have symptoms?
Sickness is the lack of the ability of the body to adapt. Aren’t the symptoms of a cold, flu or barf bug a sign the body is adapting?
Here’s the science.
When a child gets a viral or bacterial infection the body responds by doing things like increase the body temperature to kill the bug or produce mucous which eliminates the chemical by-products, dead bacteria or viruses and debris from the healing process. Your child may have less energy because the body is redirecting its resources to adapt and clear the bug. These are all signs of a body that is adapting to its environment and this is HEALTHY.
“Sick” would be a body that is not able to sense and respond or heal. The childhood flues, colds, coughs and projectile vomiting sessions are actually proof that your child’s body is healthy. It is doing what it needs to do to restore balance.
Here’s the philosophy:
I believe that telling a child that they are sick when they have a routine childhood illness disempowers them. It tells them they are a victim of something outside themselves instead of highlighting their inner healing power. It discounts their body’s wisdom that runs the show healing their body.
Here’s the action step:
Try different language.
Instead of telling your child they are sick try saying:
“Your body is processing.”
“I see your body is cycling.”
“You are symptomatic” (my 14 year old said recently, “Mom I am symptomatic. Can I skip lacrosse today?”)
“Looks like your body is having a rainy day.”
“Your body is healing, that is why you are warm. Let’s snuggle”
These words infer that they are healthy, strong and are merely adapting. It does not ignore the symptoms but it frames them in an empowering way. It says this is normal and you are recovering… this too shall pass.
All of these examples infer process instead of predicament. This begins to help them form Holistic Headspace! And a child with holistic headspace feels their body is capable and healthy.
Let’s put the word sick to bed – instead learn and teach the Language of Wellness with your family!
Keep Sleep on Your To-do List

Chiropractic care can help you get better sleep so you’ll have more energy to get through your day.

With a lengthy to-do list, including shopping, entertaining, and a whirlwind of festivities, sleep sometimes gets shortchanged during this busy season. Here are a few ideas that might help ensure you get the sleep you need to stay refreshed and energized all season long!
Eat and Drink to Induce Sleep
If sleep is elusive during this busy season, a warm cup of chamomile tea before bed may help induce slumber. Likewise, eating tryptophan-rich turkey before bed might also help. Other natural sleep enhancers include warm milk, nuts, seeds, and bananas. These contain tryptophan and magnesium, which may also induce sleep.
Take a Natural Approach
While there are numerous over-the-counter sleep aids on the market, taking the natural approach is encouraged as supplements typically don’t have unwanted side effects. Magnesium, GABA and valerian root are often used to promote sleep.
Check Your Bedtime Rituals
Just as children are likely to have a bedtime routine; adults can also benefit from having a pre-bed routine. A warm bath about an hour to an hour and a half before bed is relaxing and may enhance sleep. Reading may also calm a busy brain and allow you to ease into a blissful state of sleepiness.
Avoiding all electronics, (TV watching, cell phone, computer or tablet use) is advisable as the stimulation from the artificial light can make it difficult to shut down.
Seek Chiropractic Care
We encourage you to visit us regularly during this festive season. Because chiropractic aims to reduce nerve interference, your body may function better, and your sleep may improve as a result.
When you experience regular, restorative sleep, you’ll have more energy to tackle the many to-dos of the season and enjoy the festivities in the process!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11068585957358917575noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-335407720267739647.post-6033061261122135172015-04-07T07:56:00.001-07:002015-04-07T07:56:48.781-07:00Is Meditation a good idea for Stress Reduction? Have you ever wondered what your own Good Standing Posture is? If so, here’s the blog and video that will teach you how to find it. A lesson for life.

What is Standing Posture?

It’s when you’re standing!

It’s always comfortable.

Your standing posture is probably not textbook perfect and so can be improved.

There is a way to stand that is balanced and your centre of gravity falls through certain parts of your body. In this way, we stand efficiently and the deep postural muscles are working. These muscles support our joints and can work for long periods without fatigue. However, if we don’t stand in good posture, our centre of gravity falls through different parts of our body and different muscles must work to keep us there.
This is not so good because the muscles now working are not postural muscles and can fatigue.
This causes pain.

For example: Standing with your chin poking forwards

Now, this is something many of us do because we’re sat at a desk for hours, and that encourages the “Tortoise Posture”. When you stand like this, the muscles that must come into play to stop us from dropping our heads are the middle fibres of trapezius, and they run from the top of our shoulders to the base of our neck. This muscle can’t work for long periods and is a big source of pain for many people. So improving your posture will help reduce the activity of this muscle and thus you will get less pain.
To help improve your head and neck posture, you must be able to hold your head back a little so that your ear is in line with the middle of your shoulder when observed from the side. If you’ve stood with your head forwards for many years this will not happen quickly. You need to practice the Retraction Exercise which is on my previous blog. This will allow you to stretch the tight structures that are stopping you from holding a good head posture. You must do this about three times a day to have a gentle, effective stretch.
So, to find our good, pain-free standing posture this is what you do…

Stand with your back against a wall with heels 2cms away from the wall.

Your bottom, upper back, and if possible the back of your head should be resting on the wall. If your head won’t reach the wall don’t strain.
In this position there should be just enough space to slide your hand in between the lower back inward curve and the wall.

If there is too much space, flatten this inward curve until your hand is touching the wall on one side and your back on the other side.

This will be your good standing posture for the lower back.

Whilst finding this position, keep your knees straight and don’t drop your chest down.

Mini Squat Exercise

To help you to learn and adapt this position, find your good posture position as explained above or on the video then…

Whilst maintaining this good posture, slowly bend the knees to do a mini squat…

…and then straighten your knees keeping the good postural position.

This will help you to learn the new, correct standing posture.
Now, the Retraction Exercise in my previous post will help you cope with a particularly common fault that causes poor standing posture. But of course, there are many other bad habits we can slip into, and we’ll look at some of them in future posts. But remember, once you know what good posture is you can work towards it.
So try out the advice we’ve covered today, and let me know how you get on!

Sure, we all do! And we’ve hear a million times about the obvious ways to take care of ourselves: exercise, diet etc.
But there’s one simple exercise that boosts all of these things simultaneously and that most of us simply don’t know. What’s that? Being thankful. Sound too simplistic to you? Not so fast! Check out 13 of its stellar science-backed benefits:

Benefits of Gratitude:

HAPPINESS

1 – Increases your Happiness. Counting your blessings leads to heightened well-being, especially positive mood (and who couldn’t use more of that?) (ref1. ref2 ref3).
2 – Brings you Happiness that Lasts. In fact, an attitude of gratitude can not only help you increase positive emotion, but also sustain it. Heck, ice cream can make us happy in the moment but gratitude leads to long-term happiness (ref)
3 – Protects you from Stress & Negativity. Gratitude is associated with decreased anxiety and depression and increased social support (ref)
4 – Reduces Your Materialism. One reason gratitude boosts our well-being is that it reduces materialism (ref) which is a good thing because materialism is linked to less happiness (ref)

Don’t feel grateful? No worries! It’s accessible to anyone. Whether we’re sick or well, old or young, employed or unemployed, if our heart is beating, air is flowing in our lungs, and we have had a meal today, we have something to be grateful for. “Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a Rather Large Amount of Gratitude” (A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh).

Practicing Gratitude

Here are some simple ways to strengthen your thanking muscle:

1) A powerful way scientists have found can increase your well-being is simply making daily gratitude lists. Write down 5 things you feel grateful for every day. This simple (and short!) act can significantly increase your happiness.
2) Another way you can boost your gratitude is by spending a few minutes out of your day devoted to gratitude. Below is a gratitude meditation I put together that you can download and try for yourself today.
3) And finally, here’s a video by Brother David Steindl-Ross I love that never fails to elicit gratitude.
Let me know how it works out for you and share your experience in the comment section below!
There seemed to be a trend with some clients wanting to increase the time between their visits. For some reason, some were starting to believe that they didn't need to come in as often as was recommended by Dr. Mike Rumpel.

So, Dr. Mike decided to try going 1 month without an adjustment. This was no easy task, as Dr. Mike has been getting adjusted regularly since he was 7 years old. After being pushed off a slide at age 5 and falling on his head, Dr. Mike started experiencing severe headaches, inability to concentrate and daily vomiting. He was getting in trouble at school constantly. Luckily, someone suggested to his parents that he see a Chiropractor.

Chiropractic literally saved Dr. Mike. Going "cold turkey", was against everything he knew. All the miracles we have seen in our office, all the benefits of regular chiropractic care, would be ignored.

Dr. Mike's passion for what he does, the results he gets, and the value he sees in every life he touches were just some of the reasons he needed to try this experiment.

My regular Chiropractic routine
is to get my spine checked weekly, adjusting what is necessary; this has been
my standard for many years. Rarely do I ever have pain; the purpose of my
adjustments is to optimise nervous system function and improve health
expression.

The trend of some clients who
had been under weekly or biweekly care for years wanting to extend their visits
to monthly got me curious as to what they were experiencing and the “why”
behind it.

By week two I started getting
neck and upper back pain, end of that week a headache. Week three the
pain continued and energy levels, normally high, started to get lower. My
mood got worse and my focus and concentration levels dropped by the end of week
3. The 4th week was bizarre: my pain disappeared, I felt good
physically. Interestingly though, I continued to be affected mentally,
which was difficult to truly perceive because it was starting to feel
“normal”. My focus at work was way off, I was sleeping terribly, I was
super grumpy and short-tempered (especially with my wife and kids), I became
very negative in my overall outlook towards life; all while physically feeling
great!

This was VERY revealing to me as
to what is happening with so many people unfamiliar with regular Chiropractic
care. Most people benefit holistically from weekly or biweekly care at a
neurological level. Because the brain and body have an amazing ability to
adapt, the initial physical symptoms associated with not getting adjusted soon
disappear because of this adaption. Relying on pain to dictate health and
the necessity of getting adjusted is therefore unreliable because adaptation
covers up the true neurological dysfunction of a subluxated spine.
Ultimately, going too long results in brain function changes which alter
emotions, mood, sleep, energy levels and overall happiness with this amazing
life we’ve been given.

So what I experienced, and what
some of our Clients have experienced is truly deception – being robbed of full
life expression and enjoyment because of adaptation.

Great personal experiment, not
to be repeated because basically it sucked, plain and simple. I love
living a life full of optimism, massive energy, clear thinking and a full
capacity to serve and help others....if this means getting adjusted regularly
to achieve this, I’m all in!

Dr. Mike, testing the limits to understand more for his clients.

Just: Just Another Four-Letter Word

My hearing (or lack of it according to some people) has become highly sensitive to any sentence that begins with “I’m just…”

Maybe it comes from years of personal experience, but I try to be so careful about what I say about myself – either to myself or to the general public. I leave all the sarcastic slings to a few close friends. They need and want the practice.

Most people don’t say the words “I’m just” and follow it with…”fabulous,” or “so excited about my future,” or “so mindful of my own goodness.” Or phrases like, “I am just so grateful to be able to get up each day and explore new options.”

No, nowadays it just seems to come in the form of “I’m just not getting any place with this job,” “I’m just never going to move ahead with my life,” and my least favorite: “I’m just not good enough to matter.”

What I find unbelievable is when I hear negative, self-defeating putdowns coming from intelligent, clever and creative people. People who have so much potential – just ask them when they aren’t beating up on themselves and are focused on their goals. But the soundtrack they play in their minds comes from years of self doubt along with the biting and hurtful words from some lovely individuals (who are probably dealing with a self-sabotaging soundtrack themselves) who helped reinforce all that personality pollution that whirls around a perfectly fine brain.
We can change the way we view ourselves by changing the soundtrack in our head. It won’t happen overnight, but become aware of your self-defeating slogans. Make 2015 the year of the Positive Affirmations. Make your platform one that is filled with uplifting and optimistic statements.
Stop yourself when the words “I’m just” start to form on your lips. Rethink and rework that statement before uttering it.
Try to look at it this way: When we were kids, we couldn’t say certain words or else we would suffer some nasty consequences. Start to think of “I’m just” as a phrase that could cause your dear great-grandmother Tillie to faint dead away. Or even better, utter those words and have a “time out corner” dedicated in your name. Let “I’m just” start to taste like Irish Spring on your tongue.
One way to strike it rich before “I’m just” leaves your repertoire is to keep a jar handy and every time you say that dastardly expression, throw in a dollar. You just might jet off to Europe for a month’s vacation, all expenses paid.
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11pt; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi;">Yes, the
Christmas season is just around the corner!
I love the holiday season because to me it represents promise, love,
giving and family. Generally speaking
it’s also the time of year we see people reach out to the
needy and less fortunate. For the last
few years we have done the same by offering the Christmas Gift of Health. This outreach has always been very important
because we feel blessed to be given the ability and opportunity to help people
with their health and change their lives for the better. However, to be completely honest, there is so much more work to be done. Many people in our community are lost, sick
and suffering when it comes to their health and happiness and many are losing
hope and vision for their future.

office has been a proud partner with Chiropractors with Compassion (CWC) for
over 6 years. CWC funds holistic
child-centered projects in third world nations, focusing on developing the
child to empower them to escape impoverishment.
As some of you know, I travelled on a CWC mission trip to Kenya in 2011. In Africa, I personally got to experience
horrifying poverty on a level that is indescribable; this was balanced by the
hope and joy of seeing the schools and water treatment facilities that CWC is
building that are allowing kids to escape the cycle of poverty. By helping one person at a time locally, each
CWC partner is also changing and saving lives globally. CWC partners commit to donating $20 for every
new patient that comes into their office.
Amazingly within 7 years, CWC has funded over $2.3 million in projects
in Africa, Central America and more prominently now in the Dominican Republic.

to see this become the biggest and best Christmas outreach ever!<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi;"> <span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11pt; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi;">Not only to help lots of
people in our community heal and regain better health, but also to make a big
Every religion teaches the importance of forgiveness, whether in the form of turning the other cheek in Christianity or the Buddhist practice of sending loving-kindness to all beings. Yet it is very difficult to simply decide to forgive someone who has wronged you, and make the emot...ions of anger or the feeling of betrayal simply go away. It is equally difficult to forgive yourself and make the sense of shame or disappointment dissolve and no longer afflict you.

Sometimes we hold on so firmly to our resentments that we carry them with us to our deathbed. When we forgive ourselves and others, we can reprogram the toxic neural networks of our limbic brain. In order to truly forgive ourselves and others, we must upgrade the programming that is the source of our limiting beliefs. But we discover that there’s a neurological catch-22: it is very difficult to create new neural networks until we practice forgiveness.

The following exercise was especially helpful to shamans after the Spanish Conquest of the Americas in the 15th-16th centuries. With it, they were able to forgive the Conquistadors who wreaked havoc on their traditions and enslaved their people. In some parts of the Andes, this practice is known as “Burying the Sword of the Conquest.” It works by re-imprinting the image of a loved one over the image of someone who has wronged you. This can help you override the programming of your prehistoric brain. It is not an easy practice, because the mind will resist holding the image of a loved one together with that of an enemy.

An Exercise in Radical Forgiveness

This practice works best when you are relaxed.
Sit down comfortably and take a few deep, relaxing breaths. Call to your mind the image of a loved one, and feel the feelings of caring and affection. Hold this image for a count of three breaths. Now call to your mind the image of someone you feel has wronged you—a former lover or business partner, or someone who abused you physically or emotionally. For one long breath, feel the anger or resentment you have toward this person swelling up inside you. Now, for five long breaths, superimpose the image of your loved one over this person, and imagine how they blend and merge until only the image of your loved one remains, and only the feelings of love and caring endure.

This exercise must be repeated frequently for it to clear the toxic emotions and erase the neural networks in the limbic brain. You will notice that the intensity of your feelings of anger or resentment will gradually diminish, until one day you discover that they are extinguished. Then you will be able to draw the lesson that you still have to learn from that relationship and not have to waste time and energy on toxic emotions. Once we learn the lessons that our enemies have to teach us, we don’t need to continue learning that way any longer.

Wholy Tea – For Fast Weight Loss and Cleansing

Are you feeling bloated, constipated and just run down? Did you know that 1 – 5 lbs of your current weight could be toxic fecal matter stuck to the intestinal wall and colon causing numerous health conditions? Did you know that your liver is responsible for eliminating excess cholesterol and fat from your blood? It will only do this when it is not toxic.
Good News! We have the solution and it is called Wholy Tea. All you have to do to clean your colon and liver is drink two cups of Holy Tea per day for a month. Some people even say it works in as fast as a week. This will help you to reduce the size of your abdomen or belly.
The objective is to regulate your bowel movements to two or three each day in order to keep the waste flowing and not sitting in your digestive system, which may cause numerous health conditions including bloating and constipation. You may adjust the amount of Holy Tea you consume daily to suit your body’s needs. You also need to drink 8 cups (64oz.) of clean water daily, which is recommended for everyone everyday, whether you have any of the above mentioned conditions or not!
People are dying with conditions that can be eradicated simply by cleaning the colon. The American Medical Association journal stated there are over 15,000,000 IBS cases (which they say, they have no answer for.) Probably every North American has issues with the sewer system of our most important organ, the colon. Dr. Miller has been working on this product, perfecting it for consumption for over 20 years.
Did you know that over 5 pounds of your current weight could be undigested toxic fecal matter plaquing your colon? It’s time for a cleanse!
The colon is the end portion of the human digestive tract. It is about 5 feet long and 2 ½ inches in diameter. Its major functions are to eliminate waste and to conserve water. Waste, (accumulated garbage) impacted feces, dead cells, mucous, parasites, worms, flukes, etc. pose an eventual problem/problems to health. The material is very toxic, and one can experience part of the toxicity in the form of acid reflux. This is simply waste that needs to go out the other end, but it is prevented/blocked. These poisons enter and circulate in the blood stream, making us feel, ill, tired and weak. Secondly, when the colon is blocked, the body cannot properly use nutrients properly.

This huge problem is prevalent in all ‘civilized’ societies. Common signs include: headaches, backaches, constipation, fatigue, bad breath, body odor, irritability, confusion, skin problems, gas, bloating, diarrhea, sciatic pain, and many other problems which are simply parasites feeding on bacteria. Remove the bacteria; you will remove the food chain. Colon toxicity is very common, but certainly not limited to the colon. The toxin is found in fat tissue, joints, arteries, muscles, liver, and all other organs. Wholy Tea effectively eliminates large quantities of toxic waste, affecting the condition of the entire body. While the lungs, skin, and kidneys also serve to eliminate toxins, if the health of the colon is optimum, the whole body can work together as the well-tuned, balanced work of art, the way it was supposed to be.
There is no other product that is as easy and pleasant to consume as Wholy Tea. It is absolutely essential that we take care of our colon or suffer the consequences. You take a shower, you brush your teeth, do you drink Wholy Tea? It is far more important to keep your colon and body clean than it is to brush your teeth and take a shower, but you do not forget to brush your teeth and take a shower do you? Then it is time to start cleaning your insides just like you clean your outsides.
The human body is able to naturally expel unwanted material on its own, but due to industrialized living the body is exposed to chemicals and toxins that it is unable to flush. The body’s inability to properly rid itself of these toxic elements causes an unhealthy build up within the digestive organs in its system.
One of the most renowned nutrition experts in the world, Dr. Bernard Jensen, D.C., Ph.D., author of many popular health books, states:

In the 50 years I’ve spent helping people to overcome illness, disability and disease, it has become crystal clear that poor bowel management lies at the root of most people’s health problems. In treating over 300,000 patients, it is the bowel that invariably has to be cared for first before any effective healing can take place.

Holy Tea is a unique blend of all natural ingredients used with great results for over 20 years.

Benefits to the Liver and Kidneys

The colon is susceptible to a continual build up of toxic material found in the foods that we eat. Many processed foods, such as pasteurized milk, processed flour and sugar, as well as foods packed with preservatives contain toxic elements that slowly build up in the intestine. This slow build up of toxins causes a hardened impacted film to form within the intestines decreasing the body’s ability to absorb nutrients, lowers metabolism rates and causes unhealthy weight gain. When the body cannot absorb the positive elements of food properly energy levels are lowered and the risk of serious illness is dramatically increased. Holy Tea targets the toxic build up in the intestine, breaking it up and flushing it from the colon. Once this detoxification process is started, and continued, you will have more energy, an increased feeling of over all wellness and a lower risk of potential illness.
The largest internal organ in your body, the liver, is responsible for neutralizing and removing harmful substances and toxins from the blood. Overloading the liver with harmful toxins can cause disastrous effects on your health. A sluggish liver can lead to serious fatigue, weight gain, water retention and cholesterol plaque build up. Wholy Tea will target the liver and can remove unwanted toxins and enable it to function properly. A healthy liver will increase energy, improve metabolism, and help you to burn excess fat.
Functions of the kidneys include the elimination of toxins, regulating blood pressure and helping with the urinary system. Kidney problems are becoming more common every year, mostly due to the consumption of overly processed foods. The kidneys filter our blood of toxins by producing urine. Just like the colon and liver, your kidney is vital to your every day health. If they do not function properly, your body becomes weak, leaving you vulnerable to disease. In order to maintain healthy kidneys, they should be flushed out on a regular basis. Wholy Tea is designed to rid the body of such chemicals.

Follow These Instructions Completely!

Latest Wholy Tea Reviews

HOLY TEA! Wow, thanks for helping me trim down my lower abdomen. I did not know that I had so much extra waste in my intestines.
Dr. Josh xxxx
Las Vegas NV
I have tried many detox products sold through many of the different health food stores. I would use them for a week and then slip off of the routine. They had too many pills and directions to follow. The last one I tried because the store manager at GNC said it was his best selling detox product and the cost was reasonable, about a dollar a day. He said, “all you have to do is drink two cups of tea per day, that’s it” so I gave it a try and was very impressed with how it started working on the second day. It was easy to make, easy to drink and tasted good, another great thing was that I can mix it with other juices, or add lemon and it would not affect the way the product works. So I added it to a small amount of grape juice and drank two cups of grape juice per day for a month. My bloating went away, and I lost a few pounds and now I feel much better. I have recommended this product to a few of my friends and they were happy with the results as well.
I have had chronic digestion and constipation problems most of my life. Over the years I have tried so many products (both natural and pharmaceutical) as well as a number of therapies including colon hydrotherapy. Nothing has worked as well as Wholy Tea. It is gentle and consistently effective. Wholy Tea is a great product that I wouldn’t do without.
Thank you.

Wholy Tea Ingredients

Ingredients are a special blend of: Persimmon leaves, malva leaves, holy thistle, marshmallow leaves, blessed thistle, green tea and white tea. It is the special enzymes that allow the gentle cleansing of the whole body with continued use. All the enzymes that used to give us colon health have been destroyed by processed foods and pasteurization of Dairy products. Now we can enjoy perfect colon health. Wholy Tea is a total body cleanse for health and wellness. It’s like cleaning a house, one room at a time. One overworked organ at a time.
Persimmon Leaves
Persimmon leaves are a good source of important dietary antioxidants, such as vitamin A & C and flavonoids. It has been widely used as a tea in oriental countries. In particular, several tannins and flavonoids isolated from persimmon leaf were recently found to have antihypertensive, anticarcinogenic and antimutagenic actions. It is highly possible, therefore, that persimmon leaves may be developed into potential sources of natural antioxidants and therapeutic drugs. Persimmon leaf is anti-allergic and anti-pruritic in composition; in other words, an allergy or itching preventive food. No need for antihistamines again. Furthermore, research has proven the therapeutic effect of persimmon leaf extract on those suffering from dermatitis. The preventive effect of persimmon leaf extract on the dermatitis was dose-dependent and a continuous intake of persimmon leaf extract significantly decreased its onset and development. There were no significant adverse reactions observed. As well, studies have shown that supplementation of persimmon leaf improves lipid profiles and suppresses body weight gain in animals that were fed high-fat diets. It is also used topically in some beauty products to help to clarify the skin and eliminate dull and dark areas.
Malva Leaves
The seed contains mucilage, polysaccharides and flavonoids. It is demulcent, (soothes and softens irritated tissues, especially the mucus membranes) diuretic, emollient, (softens the skin) galactogogue (increases milk flow in nursing mothers), and gentle stimulation of the bowels. The seeds are used in Tibetan medicine, where they are considered to have a sweet and astringent taste plus a healing potency. They are used in the treatment of renal disorders, the retention of fluids, frequent thirst and diarrhea. The weedy Malva Leaf has been used interchangeably for food, tea and medicine for thousands of years. The Aztec’s used Malva Leaves for Bronchitis, Tonsillitis, Gastroenteritis, Pleuresia (Inflammation of the membrane that covers the lungs), Leucorrea or White Discharge, Inflammation of the Cervix, Inflamed Hemorrhoids, Colitis, Rectiti, Intestinal Infections, Cutaneous Diseases and to Soften Tumors and Abscess.
Holy Thistle / Milk Thistle
Holy Thistle or Milk Thistle contains several phyto-nutrients with possible medical effects. Most current research focuses on one of them, silymarin, which may have specific protective effects on cells in the liver. In multiple human, animal, and laboratory studies, silymarin has shown differing degrees of effectiveness for protecting the liver from damage caused by alcohol, chemicals, drugs, diseases, and poisonous plants. It is used to treat both acute conditions (such as poisoning) and long-term diseases (such as hepatitis C). Silymarin and other chemicals in milk thistle are believed to protect liver cells in several different ways: Silymarin has antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are thought to prevent or lessen damage to body cells that is caused by a chemical process called oxidation. Anti-inflammatory effects of silymarin help keep liver cells from swelling in response to injury. Silymarin seems to encourage the liver to grow new cells, while discouraging the formation of inactive fibrous tissue. By changing the outside layer of liver cells, silymarin may also keep certain harmful chemicals from getting into liver cells. Milk (Holy) thistle may also cause the immune system to be more active. Silymarin and other chemicals from milk thistle have also been tested in laboratory studies involving various types of human cancer cells. In general, they seem to interrupt cancer cell division as well as shortening the time that cancer cells live. They may also stop or limit the formation of new blood vessels that supply tumors. Most research has centered on breast cancer and prostate cancer, but milk thistle is also being tested for treating other cancers such as leukemia. In some animal studies, certain types of breast cancer tumors actually increased in number and/or seriousness when milk thistle was given to female animals with existing breast tumors. However, the application of a second milk thistle chemical, silibinin, to the skin of laboratory animals has protected the animals against the development of skin cancer – either before or immediately after exposure to damaging radiation. Silibinin may even help to restore damaged skin somewhat by mending DNA that has been harmed by ultraviolet rays. In addition, some chemicals from milk thistle may increase the effectiveness of current anticancer drugs. Some of these anticancer effects are being studied in early-phase human trials, but none is confirmed, yet. Milk thistle and chemicals derived from it are being studied for a number of additional possible effects. For example, in a study of humans, milk thistle produced modest reductions in cholesterol levels. Results of separate laboratory studies show that milk thistle may help to protect the heart muscle from damage caused by certain drugs.
Blessed Thistle
Blessed Thistle has fuzzy leaves and stems with yellow flowers. It is a “bitter” that aids digestion and works on a congested liver. It increases breast milk and is an emotional ally to uplift spirits. Blessed Thistle [Glandular] is so named because of the ancient belief that it possessed supernatural qualities. It grows up to two feet tall and is found in meadows and along roadsides. From May to June the plant bears pale yellow flowers. Among natural-health enthusiasts the plant is commonly used to support the female reproductive system. Blessed Thistle has been known to aid the body with the following ailments:anorexia, expectorant, antibiotic, Fever, antimicrobial, gallbladder Disease, appetite Stimulant, Inflammation, astringent,Jaundice,Bleeding, Liver Disease, Blood Purification, Memory Enhancer,Boils, Menstrual Cramps,Breast Milk Stimulant, Salivary Stimulant,Cancer, Skin Ulcers, contraception, Sweating Stimulant,Diarrhea and Wound Healing. Blessed Thistle is known to have anti-microbial effects in viral infections. Historically, Blessed Thistle has been recommended as a treatment for stomach upset, indigestion and gas. The use of Blessed Thistle has been recorded as far back as the early sixteenth century for treating smallpox, fever, anorexia, dyspepsia, indigestion, constipation and flatulence. It is also popularly regarded as a galactagogue, as mentioned above.
Marshmallow Leaves
Traditionally used to soothe and support the intestines. Herbs high in mucilage, such as Marshmallow, are often helpful for symptomatic relief of coughs and irritated throats. Mallow has expectorant and demulcent properties, which accounts for this herb’s historical use as a remedy for the respiratory tract, particularly in cases of irritating coughs with bronchial congestion. Marshmallow root and – to a lesser extent – marshmallow leaf both contain significant percentages of mucilage, a natural gummy substance that does not dissolve in water. Like other mucilage-containing substances, marshmallow swells up and becomes slick when it is exposed to fluids. The resulting slippery material coats the linings of the mouth, throat, and stomach to relieve irritation and control coughing associated with respiratory or stomach conditions. For example, marshmallow has been used to treat sore throats and to alleviate heartburn. Marshmallow may also have mild anti-infective and immune-boosting properties. Topically, marshmallow is used to soothe and soften irritated skin. It also soothes irritation and inflammation caused by bronchitis, urinary tract infections, colitis and other problems.
Marshmallow root is also used to ease constipation.

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Californian FB","serif"; font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;">Blown
Ankle No More

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Over 25 years ago I experienced a
particularly horrendous (& hideous) injury: while playing soccer, I was
slide-tackled with all the force directed toward my cleated and firmly planted
foot. The result of this was an eversion
sprain (rolled inwards, rather than the more common inversion ankle rolling
outwards injury), tearing all the ligaments on the inside of my ankle so badly
I had to be casted for 8 weeks. Nasty,
nasty, nasty…

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">This “bad” ankle has plagued me for
years. I have had an incredible amount
of therapy on it consisting of chiropractic, physio, and massage which have
helped it immensely but never fully restored its full balanced function. Conventional dogma and traditional teaching
led me to believe that because the ligamentous injury had been so severe it
would never be fully healed and would always need to be just managed so as to
avoid degenerative changes and related secondary injury to joints related to it
(ie the knee, hip, SI-joint and upper neck).
Because I am a Chiropractor and believe absolutely in the incredible
ability of the body to self-heal, I never was fully content with just managing my
“bad” ankle…

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> <span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Along the way, I became interested in the
bodies biomechanics: its overall ability to move, function and maintain proper
posture. In 2007 I invested in a very
cool technology in my office to asses gait (the position and movement of the
feet related to standing and walking).
Basically, a person both stands then walks across a very sensitive
sensor pad that sends a lot of information to a computer which analyses gait
patterns and weight distribution. This
allows me to interpret imbalances in the gait pattern. If necessary and appropriate I can then send
this information and other measurements to a laboratory in Toronto to
manufacture state of the art orthotics based on dynamic motion (rather than a
more dated approach of estimating an ankles proper position without considering
gravity). A picture of my gaitscan
results are below (Figure 1) showing the pronation (rolling in) of my one
ankle. I did, for a 2 year period, wear
orthotics to help accommodate this imbalance which did help the symptoms. Repeat gaitscans did reveal the same degree
of pronation, therefore, the problem was not being corrected, just managed.

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> <span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Then I read the book ‘Born To Run’ in 2009
and my mind was blown. This book exposed
concepts to me that in all my years of research I had never been exposed
to. Essentially, the book describes our
design as humans to allow us to run, which we traditionally have done either
bare-footed or with minimal footwear. It
also showed how most current footwear is weakening the muscles, ligaments and
tendons in our feet causing pronation and injury. The proposed solution was to return to
running barefoot or with minimalist shoes to restore strength and function to
the feet. WOW….this blew my mind – I
went for it!

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">I have been running with Vibram Five Fingers
for 4 seasons and now wear them daily in my office while working (this raises
both eyebrows and awareness!). Recently
we have hired a new Team member in our office and are training on all our
procedures; as part of this we repeated my gaitscan last week. The results AMAZED me (see Figure 2 below):
my gait patterns were fully restored, perfectly balanced and completely
healed!!! This has shown me the power of
the body to fully heal given the right conditions. It also gives me the confidence, in spite of
what much of the medical, physio, orthotic and corporate shoe communities are
saying, to encourage everyone to take this approach. Yes, injuries can occur, but it is a process
that needs to be approached gradually over a long period of time similar to
chiropractic corrective care – it will take at least a year, likely more, of
slowly increasing micro-changes.

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">This is critical to address and vital to
health because of the nervous system.
Any joint in the body has position sensors in it called
proprioceptors. Just as the motion of
your car turns the alternator which charges the cars battery, the motion of any
joint in the body stimulates these proprioceptors which literally charge your
brain. This increases brain energy and
function: Movement is Life! The highest concentration of proprioceptors
occurs in four joints: the ankle, the SI-joints, the upper neck vertebrae, and
the jaw. Therefore, movement of these
joints is critical to proper
brain function and is also why stretching, exercise and a specific Chiropractic
adjustment of these joints will improve your brain activity: Chiropractic is not about pain, it is about your brain!
The issue of Vitamin D deficiency as a major causal factor in immune system related illnesses ranging from seasonal cold and flu, to heart disease, to cancer, to atopic and autoimmune disorders has received a lot of attention in the last few years. Clinical journals as well as the mainstream media have been reporting evidence that modern industrialized humans are severely deficient in Vitamin D and that this deficiency is a major contributing factor to illness and lack of health and vitality.
What does vitamin D do and why is it so important for wellness and prevention?
Before we discuss the evidence regarding vitamin D sufficiency and health and vitamin D deficiency and illness let’s first look at the basic science regarding the importance of vitamin D for human immune function and health. A basic understanding of why vitamin D is a genetic human requirement for wellness and prevention will allow greater understanding of why vitamin D supplementation is required.
The innate immune system is the component of our immune system that is genetically programmed to respond to antigens (viruses, bacteria, fungi, and any other threatening non-self invaders). The innate immune system uses what are termed effectors that are genetically coded to respond to antigens or invaders. The most studied of these effectors are named antimicrobial peptides or AMPs. AMPs not only attack the invaders they also trigger tissue repair and activate the adaptive or acquired immune system (the branch of the immune system that creates antibodies to specific antigens after exposure).
Recent research has shown that vitamin D up-regulates the genetic expression of AMPs in immune cells. Vitamin D also plays an important role in controlling the inflammatory response initiated by specialized immune cells called macrophages. A deficiency of vitamin D means deficient control of inflammation. In the skin vitamin D also activates the immune system against antigens.
"Thus, vitamin D both enhances the local capacity of the epithelium to rapidly produce endogenous antibiotics and, at the same time, dampens certain arms of adaptive immunity, especially those responsible for the signs and symptoms of acute inflammation." Cannell et al. 2008 Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A Toxicity, Frequent Respiratory Infections, and the Vitamin D Deficiency Epidemic. Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology 117 (11): 864-870

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Californian FB","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Just over 2 weeks ago I completed the
most grueling bike race in my experience thus far – the infamous and legendary
Leadville Trail 100. I’ve already
written of my experiences of such, with its tremendous highs and lows,
struggles and overall sense of overcoming extreme adversity and the amazing
lessons associated with this. Basically,
it served up a hefty dose of whoopin which took me to a very deep and dark
place for many hours – this is what I look for in these ultra-endurance races
because this is where I need to go to learn more about who I truly am. The result of this is best explained as True
Bliss; not because of accomplishment, ranking, placement nor accolades, but
because of what I have learned. It is a
surreal sense of well-being, pure joy and connection with all and everyone –
Heaven, really.

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Californian FB","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">One of the unfortunate side-effects of
these races with me is ‘The Dip’ which occurs about 2 weeks after my big
races. It is best described as a deep
dark depressive hole from which I find it very difficult to escape. Because the after-glow-feel-good effect of
elevated endorphins (dopamine and serotonin) is so intensively high in the week
following these events, the supply gets exhausted and I crash….resulting in
depressive symptoms. This manifests as lethargy,
reclusiveness, less desire to participate in activities, an aversion to
exercise, lack of engagement with my wife and kids, less focus at work, wanting
to sleep in and avoid my morning time practice of prayer and meditation. This hit me like a freight train this
morning…and it sucks…

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Californian FB","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">In previous years I have been stuck in
this for many weeks and it only gets harder to escape as time goes on. So after a few hours of personal pity-party
this morning, I cowboy’d-up, put on my Five Fingers and went for a 1 hour trail
run on one of my favourite routes.
Initially, my mind fought it but after about 30 minutes the shift
towards joy started. Awesome, I have
‘slayed the dragon’ early this time!

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Californian FB","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">On this run, it was revealed to me the
beauty of experiencing this. I caught a
brief glimpse of the depressive symptoms that many in our society live with
everyday – this is the sad reality and normal
for many adults and kids. The effect of the endorphin rush from my run this
morning with its amazing feelings of joy was not a boost for me – it was a
return to my version of normal, to what I experience every day.

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Californian FB","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">This reveals some basic truths about
depressive symptoms. Contrary to common
beliefs, they are not due to ‘chemical imbalances’ nor ‘bad genes’, but rather
due to lifestyle imbalances. As taught in our office, it is critical to
continually work on improving how we Eat, Move and Think as taught by Dr. James
Chestnut to build a strong foundation in health. This is what supports proper nerve function,
balanced hormone levels, ideal endorphin levels and decreases neurological
stress which causes spinal subluxations (misalignments). As Chiropractors we do not treat depression,
however, by educating people to make improved lifestyle decisions and by
optimizing neurological function by adjusting the spine the body will heal and
return to its natural state of health.
This is what everyone deserves and why everyone needs Chiropractic care!
